National Black Business Month Spotlight: Freshfruit, Inc.

Wesley Wade, Owner of Freshfruit, Inc.

National Black Business Month is a time to recognize the impactful Black-owned businesses that are shaping our communities. HEF would like to spotlight Freshfruit, Inc. ("Freshfruit"), a media and marketing firm established in July 2019. Owned by Wesley Wade, Freshfruit is dedicated to changing the LGBTQ+ landscape through its unique brands, Kiki and Freshfruit Magazine.

The Mind Behind Freshfruit

Wesley Wade has led the company through its development and planning stages with the mission of creating inclusive and empowering spaces for the LGBTQ+ community. Freshfruit has been supported by the Harlem Entrepreneurial Fund (HEF), receiving a loan to help launch its initiatives.

Kiki: A Social Network and Ticketing Platform

Freshfruit's event ticketing platform, Kiki, is made for the LGBTQ+ community. Kiki provides a space for LGBTQ+ individuals, vendors, and allies to promote, plan, and access both in-person and virtual events. What sets Kiki apart is being the first and only social network and ticketing platform dedicated to the needs of the LGBTQ+ community. The platform is set to launch in major cities with large LGBTQ+ communities, including Washington DC, California, Georgia, and Florida. Targeting LGBTQ+ millennials, GenZ, and their allies, Kiki promises to be a catalyst in the event planning and social networking space.

Freshfruit Magazine: The Pulse of LGBTQ+ Culture

Complementing Kiki is Freshfruit Magazine, a digital magazine focusing on contemporary LGBTQ+ culture. The magazine offers insights into trending topics in arts, media, music, and news that are relevant to the community. Freshfruit Magazine is a vital source connecting readers with the LGBTQ+ community.

Building Community and Cultural Impact

Freshfruit is in discussions with over 60 LGBTQ+ event organizers who are ready to utilize the Kiki platform. This strong interest shows the demand for a community-focused ticketing and social networking solution. Freshfruit’s initiatives are designed not only to support LGBTQ+ individuals but also to create a sense of community and drive cultural change.

Looking Ahead

As Freshfruit launches Kiki and continues the success of Freshfruit Magazine, the company is set to make an impact on the LGBTQ+ community. By providing platforms that cater to the needs of LGBTQ+ individuals, Freshfruit is creating inclusive environments.

This National Black Business Month, we celebrate Freshfruit, Inc. and the leadership of Wesley Wade. Through platforms like Kiki and Freshfruit Magazine, Freshfruit is paving the way for a more inclusive and connected LGBTQ+ community. HEF looks forward to the continued growth and success of Freshfruit.
